The End of Windows XP - How will this affect you?
/GDK have been upgrading our clients to Windows 7 and Windows 8 for the last year after Microsoft announced they are ending support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014. Microsoft will no longer be releasing any more security updates and security holes that are found won’t be fixed. Your computers operating Windows XP will be at risk, even with the most up-to-date anti-virus and security protection programs.
GDK has taken a proactive approach with our clients and we’re refurbishing desktops and laptops to Windows 7 or 8. If upgrading the existing computer hardware costs more than a new system, we advise our clients on purchasing a new computer with the latest Windows operating system. The refurbishment process takes under 24 hours to complete and also insures your hardware is up-to-date and repaired as necessary. Once refurbished and upgraded to Windows 7 or 8, your PC’s and Servers will continue to receive security updates until January 14, 2020.
Windows XP is a 13 year old operating system that already is missing key security features. It can’t support the latest, safest and most Web-compatible versions of Internet Explorer and it cannot take full advantage of the latest hardware advances.
Your computing infrastructure has never been more mission-critical. Even so, operating systems are often taken for granted until something doesn’t work. Our goal at GDK is to optimize employee productivity time and insure your servers and workstations needs are met with little to no downtime.
